About Us

John is a graduate of the University of Houston with a degree in Mathematics and a minor in philosophy. He initially worked as a Chemical Engineer and advanced to Engineering Manager. His corporate executive experience includes Phillips Petroleum and Combustion Engineering at the VP level with extensive hiring and firing responsibilities over 20 years. It includes extensive international responsibility, including leading 2 Phillips Petroleum ventures in Europe (UK and Netherlands), requiring residence in London for three years.

John is currently President and owner of John Gandee & Associates Inc., located in Austin Texas, which has been in business for 26 years. The firm conducts both contingency & retained executive search, in the forest products industries recruiting the following kinds of high quality professionals: Plant Managers, HR Managers, Engineering Managers, VPs of Manufacturing, Design Engineers of all kinds, Plant Maintenance Managers, Corporate Sales Professionals, VP Sales and Marketing, Accounting Managers, Plant Controllers, first level Corporate Sales People, Programmers for many different proprietary environments, and many other job titles.

Kris Balaster is a graduate of Penn State University in the field of education. In addition to being a practicing psychotherapist for many years, she also brings 10 years of Executive Recruiting Assistant experience including Talent Identification, Resume Writing, Project Coordination, Specialized Searches, and Employment Research.
